Over the long weekend, the Dragon Quest franchise created by legendary game designer Yuji Horii turned 38.

I wanted to make a quick blog to commemorate its anniversary.

If you didn’t know, I became a massive fan of the Dragon Quest series a few years ago after first beating Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

One of the best games I have ever played.

Not only did that wonderful game introduce me to Dragon Quest, it turned me on to Japanese Roleplaying Games in general — a genre I want to continue exploring for years to come.

You can say that, thanks to DQXI, I developed a new taste in video games and shaped my backlog around it.

Speaking of which, I still have many Dragon Quest games left to play on my backlog. This is exciting for me, because I still have so much adventure left to look forward to.

The official Dragon Quest page announced that they’re still steadily working on both Dragon Quest XII, and the long-awaited Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake.

Personally, I cannot wait for both.

In the meantime, I’ve been playing Dragon Quest II and Dragon Quest VIII.

This game is a MUST!

I’ve also been replaying Dragon Quest XI, although it’s my first experience with the ‘S’ version of the game.

This series has made me incredibly happy, excited, and positive over the last few years. It’s shaped who I’ve become as a gamer and as a fan.

I couldn’t be more proud to celebrate 38 years of adventure with other fans who love this series just as much as me.

Let’s all be patient and put trust into Mr. Yuji Horii as we await the next release.

In the meantime, we can celebrate what already exists thanks to he and Mr. Akira Toriyama!

I want to continue having grand adventures with my friends.
