My Most Anticipated Upcoming Games:

Spoiler Alert: I try to get my hands on, and play, everything.

I have my preferences, though, and today I’ll talk about my most anticipated games of 2021–2022…

I won’t be able to afford everything at once, so I’ve been prioritizing what to buy and when.

Sales are a big thing for me as a player, because it lets me wait on games that are huge, as well as pick up multiple games at a time.

I’ll list off a few games that I’m currently holding out on at the moment: Immortals Fenyx Rising, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Bravely Default 2, Persona 5 Strikers, and GodFall. These games give an example of what I don’t absolutely have to have right away.

But let’s talk about what I do want immediately on day one.

Here are my most anticipated upcoming games:

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…

NieR Replicant comes out next Friday and I’m stoked on this. My friends convinced me to play NieR Automata before I had originally gotten to it on my backlog. I moved it up, played it, and got all the true endings. It was a masterpiece and should absolutely be played by every JRPG fan out there. Hell, even if you’re like me and are inexperienced in JRPG, you should still give 2B and 9S a bit of your time. I’m already planning to shut myself in next weekend and spend hours next to a tissue box.

Returnal

One of the biggest games, and a first huge one for the PlayStation 5, launches at the end of the month. Returnal. A bullet hell, DOOM-like, that also gives me a hint of Souls vibes. Returnal will be the first game to really give my PlayStation 5 a run for its course, and I couldn’t be more excited. My friends say they’ll wait for reviews, but I’m going to dive in head first. You never know. Selene and I have some major shooting to do!

New Pokémon Snap

Dude, Pokémon Snap is back, and I am NOT missing it. Everyone should already know how much I love Pokémon. It’s one of my favorite franchises. It encapsulates the entire idea of adventure and fun, teaming up and battling with creatures to get stronger and becoming the best you can be. It’s beautiful. I played the original Pokémon Snap on Nintendo 64 as a child, a really little child, so of course I’ll revisit it 20 or so years later on Nintendo Switch, the same day Returnal launches — April 30th.

Resident Evil Village (RE:8)

Resident Evil is one of my favorite series of all time. Admittedly, though, I’ve played them all, but only finished 7 last year. I plan on revisiting and finishing 4 — as it’s my all time favorite, but I really want to give RE:HD remake another shot. I’m not very good at these games, but I love them, and I’m a fan. I’m absolutely excited for next month. Resident Evil 8 looks fantastic and the settings look beautiful. If I managed to buckle down and get through 7, I should be able to beat 8. Right? I hope! Either way, I’m giving it everything I got on day one.

Biomutant

Coming out closer to the end of May, this is a game I’ve been really looking forward to. It seems to be an action-adventure RPG with lots of customization options so you can play how you deem fit, but the combat reminds me of Devil May Cry. I haven’t watched much on the game due to not wanting to be spoiled, but I’m really hoping I can spend a good weekend deep-diving into a fun game.

Mario Golf: Super Rush

Fun fact: I love Golf. I used to play Golf/Mini Golf a lot in my youth, and it translated easily to games. I grew up playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003, and MARIO GOLF for N64 as well. This is an easy day one purchase for me, especially since it has — sorta like — an offline adventure mode(?) Either way, I’ll be teeing off with this in June, and will most likely be playing this at work during my five weeks of third-shift 12 hour shifts. Easy peazy.

Pokémon Shining Pearl

Of course. You guessed it. I’m absolutely going to get Pokémon Shining Pearl day one. I have to. I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t. I had the original Pearl but never finished it as a kid, but recently went and beat Pokémon Platinum Version last year. I was a little upset by the number of Kanto Pokémon in the game, as I’m someone who only builds and uses a team of 6 Pokémon from the specific region I’m playing in, but I made it work. This time around, I’ll most likely be choosing Piplup (Chimchar last play) to switch things up and challenge myself to use a different starter. Oh, and I’ll definitely be looking to pick up my favorite Pokémon this time, Lucario.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Finally, we have my #1 most anticipated game of 2021. I will go to the ends of the Earth to play this game. August 2021, Kena Bridge of Spirits. Yes. Just yes. Everything about this game looks beautiful, magical, amazing. It has the action-adventure type gameplay that I adore in video games. It has amazing graphics, like a Disney Pixar film. It even looks to have a great story to it. I’m a sucker for this. Everything about it. I cannot wait. But it’ll be worth it.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

So, I can’t get everything day one, some games have to take priority. Eventually, I’ll grab everything I want on a sale, but I’ll list a few more honorable mentions that I want:

  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • God of War: Ragnarok
  • NEO: The World Ends With You
  • The Callisto Protocol

What are your most anticipated games coming up? Leave a comment, send me some DM’s. Let’s talk about it.

If you made it this far, I appreciate you reading and tuning in. This list was fun to make.

Have a good day!

Until next time.
