Hi, everyone!
I just finished playing Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga for the first time.

Excellent remake, but the final area and boss gave me quite the challenge.
It’s silly how I can fight every enemy I see and then some, and still be under-leveled for the ending.
Still, I managed to pull through.
That was the first game in the series I’ve finished. I’ll be moving onto Partners in Time eventually, in preparation for the upcoming Mario & Luigi Brothership for Nintendo Switch that is launching this week.

However, I don’t plan to get that game any time soon, unfortunately.
My backlog is at an all-time high right now, and in my opinion, it’s much more important to focus and control it.
Not only this, but there’s something much more important arriving just a week after Brothership. There’s simply no time to rush through a 30+ hour Mario RPG before peak arrives.
With that said, I’ve decided to begin preparing for peak.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake releases on November 14th, 2024.

I’ve decided to take these next ten days off from video games to allow myself rest.
I have not taken a gaming break in almost 5 years. I have always played from one game to the next. Even when I’m feeling low in mental health, I’ll still grind a Pokémon fight or two before sleeping.

In full honesty, this is the very first gaming detox I’ve taken on purpose.
I want to fully prepare myself for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake as much as possible. I want to contain my hype and keep myself from trying to play a story game right before I put 40+ hours into this remake.
Dragon Quest is the greatest RPG of all time.
In Japan, it’s recognized as the holy grail of games. I’m sure many Japanese people are preparing themselves, taking time off work, clearing mental space for one of the biggest launches in their country.
That makes me even more excited. It makes me want to prepare myself for it, too!
Dragon Quest is special to me. It’s a game series that provides a sense of safety and comfort. It’s an RPG that anyone can pick up and play if they are new. It gives a sense of happiness, a whimsical joy that is unmatched by other games.

I encourage everyone to pick up the game and play alongside me in two weeks.
I will be putting a lot of time into the game. I want to explore the newly created regions, compare what’s different to the older versions of the game, battle and defeat monsters, unlock achievements…
I hope you will be there with me every step of the way.
As the Hero of this adventure, I’ll be setting out with my warrior, mage, and priest to take down the evil Baramos.

Gah! I can’t contain my excitement.
I have been thinking about the game so much every day since its reveal. I’m so glad it’s almost here.
For the next ten days, I’ll be taking a gaming break. I want to take the opportunity to catch up on One Piece.

Right now, I’m in Thriller Bark, on the chapter leading up to the reveal of the next major villain of the story.
It’s such a fun arc so far, and I meant to read it during the Halloween season, I just didn’t get around to it.

Still, I’m loving how much of an adventure One Piece is. It’s like I’m reading a Japanese Roleplaying Game in of itself.
I hear Dragon Ball Daima is like a JRPG anime as well. I’ll need to find the time to catch up on that.

Since I won’t be gaming for over a week, maybe I can watch some anime, too!
With that out of the way, let me know if you guys are planning to play Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake with me this month.
I miss Akira Toriyama. I want to make him proud! And we can all do it together!

Please wait for me…
As I prepare for PEAK!
